12X12 Scrapbook Layouts – Simple Stories Domestic Bliss

When I first saw the Domestic Bliss range by Simple Stories I knew that I needed it – there are just so many elements in it which are perfectly suited to Dan and I, for example “I need a nap” and “I can’t adult today”.

So far, I have completed two layouts from this collection, one layout titled “I Love Naps” about myself, and the other titled “Do I Have To Adult Today?” which is about my partner Dan.

I would love to hear your thoughts on these layouts and also hear about what you have made with the Domestic Bliss collection.

Thanks for popping by.

Scrapbooking #HugsForNoah’s 2017 Gala Dinner

As today is National Scrapbook Day it seems only fitting to start today’s blog with a few layouts I have created with some very special memories from a wonderful event we attended in March 2017.

On Saturday 4th March 2017 we traveled to Newcastle-Upon-Tyne for the annual Hugs For Noah Gala Dinner which was held at St James’ Park – an absolutely wonderful evening of great company, delicious food and excellent entertainment.

As you can see from the photographs, everyone who attended had a fabulous evening… we can’t wait for the next one!!!

You can read Noah’s story by visiting his #HugsForNoah website or by following them on Facebook.

Papercrafting Haul from… Lidl, UK

Today I’d like to talk about a recent unexpected purchase I found in an unlikely place.

Dan and I had been out for the day on Saturday and decided to pop into Lidl on our way home as he had been told that they had some tools in stock so we thought it might be worth having a look. We didn’t really find anything in their tool section of any use to Dan but I did get a couple of papercrafting goodies.

The first thing that Dan spotted was a paper trimmer… I have been saying recently how I have been struggling to get new straight blades for my Woodware Fingerguard T200 trimmer recently as it is an older model and not commonly stocked in a lot of places now – we have mentioned looking at replacing it but I wasn’t in any rush but when we saw the paper trimmer Aldi had in stock we were both very interested.

This Crelando paper cutter looked very intriguing so I decided to investigate further… it’s interesting design is more than just a ‘funky looking design’ – the green circle on the end is actually a dial with twelve different blades for straight cuts, decorative cutting patterns, perforating and score lines. Instead of having to change your blade cartridge on your trimmer, you simply select which ‘segment’ of the dial you want, lock it down and away you go. This is far easier than having to keep a box of different blade styles next to your trimmer.

This paper cutter easily fits a twelve inch sheet of paper and rather than having one extending ruler like my Woodware trimmer, it has a fold out ruler on both sides which will make central cuts on a large sheet of paper or cardstock much easier to guarantee a straight cut. Both rulers also have a patterned edge which can be used with either a craft knife or a pencil. The Crelando trimmer also has measurements in both centimetres and inches.

It all looked very promising to me so I decided to find out how much it was – £7.99!!! Can’t you believe it? £7.99 for a paper cutter with TWELVE integrated cutting blades… I’d say that’s a bargain so we decided we were definitely having one and since I got it home and tried it out I can honestly say that I have not been disappointed.

The only down side that I have found to the Crelando paper trimmer is that I cannot see a way of changing the cutting blades but when I take into account that the cost of a single replacement blade for my Woodware paper trimmer averages at £4.00 each, I really do not think that the Crelando is a bad deal. The fact that it is relatively flat rather than having a chunky blade cartridge will also make it easier for crafting at crops, events, etc.

Lidl also had a great range of Crelando paper punches in different sizes, the large punches and the sets of smaller punches were just £4.99 each so I decided to get the large butterfly and large star.

Both of these punches give a lovely intricate cut which are approximately one inch each – a perfect size for any papercrafting needs. They are quite weighty and seem like good quality, they are easy to use and give a good quality cut so I would definitely recommend these too!!

All in all, I definitely think we found some bargains and I would recommend looking in your local Lidl store next time you are passing as you just never know what you’ll find… great products at great prices 🙂

Now I’m off to use my new goodies and have a go at my first scrapbook layout of the day.

Surprise Goodies from Charlie’s Magpie

My most recent happy mail came from the lovely Kathleen at Charlie’s Magpie… such a lovely surprise and lots of gorgeous sparkle in my favourite colours!!

I am really enjoying using the travellers notebook style of planning at the moment so I was over the moon to receive my beautiful Glitterdori and the colour together with the sparkle is beautiful. I’m not a fan of ‘loose glitter’ so the fact that this glitter fabric does not shed is perfect for me as I love the appearance of glitter.

My Glitterdori is in passport size so is perfect for all of my crafty, blog and scrapbooking notes. I love how it has a lovely soft felt lining too.

In my surprise parcel I also received some gorgeous sparkly planner accessories which go so well with my Glitterdori that they are all now in use and sat on my desk next to my pc, in use daily.

If you are looking to expand your planner or planner accessory collection then I would highly recommend popping over to Charlie’s Magpie Etsy store and don’t forget that for all orders over £5.00 you can use my exclusive discount code “CMLAURA10” to save 10% on your order 🙂

A couple of weeks ago I had a very exciting delivery from Art From The Heart, something which I have been desperately waiting for since I saw it launched at the Creativation show in January.

Almost two weeks after it’s arrival I haven’t yet had a chance to play as we had a busy weekend away, lots of work to do and I have been quite poorly but I can’t wait to get stuck in and see what exciting new possibilities lie ahead with my new goodies 🙂

Can you guess what it is? Is it something you already have or perhaps have been admiring from afar?

Yes that’s right folks, I have the full set of Tim Holtz Distress Oxides!!! *swoon*

While I have been poorly, I have been watching lots of YouTube videos of people using this lush new product and have lots of ideas in mind, I just need the Fibromyalgia pain in my hands to ease off so that I can start to play.

I can’t wait to see what I can do with these gorgeous new goodies and of course I’ll share what I do along the way 😀

Shine Together – 12x12inch Scrapbook Layout

As soon as I saw the Starshine scrapbooking range from Shimelle I knew that I needed to have it as I fell in love with the colours and paper patterns as they are just so stunning.

I decided to be well behaved and stay within my crafty budget and only ordered the 6×6 paper pad, 6×12 accent and phrase stickers, chipboard stickers and the ephemera pack… I was particularly excited to use the constellation paper design but I didn’t want it to be covered up.

This week I watched a YouTube video by Zoe Guest, titled “Stretch That Collection #3” which focuses on using the supplies that you have and using them to maximum advantage – this video was working with 6×6 inch papers. I absolutely loved this layout and decided to scraplift this scrapbook page design (thank you Zoe!!

I went through the 6×6 paper pad and chose four of my favourite paper designs, trimmed them down to 5.75inch square and cut in half diagonally, before arranging on a sheet of 12x12inch white cardstock and adhering using double sided tape.

I decided to use two photos of my partner and myself relaxing, watching television on this layout and the title “Shine Together”… I also used paper from this collection to mat and layer my photographs.

After adding ephemera pieces, chipboard stickers and elements from the phrase and accent sticker pack, I decided to incorporate the ‘shine’ ephemera piece in my title and added the word together using gold glitter Thickers.

Finally I completed my layout using enamel dots and wood veneer hearts.

Here is my completed scrapbook layout and I would love to hear your thoughts on how this page has come together, I would also like to thank Zoe for sharing this gorgeous layout idea.

Don’t forget that in the UK there is a brand new scrapbooking group which launched on 1st March 2017, so why not pop over to the UK Scrap Addicts website and join in this wonderful new community, don’t forget to use the hashtag #UKScrapAddicts when you share your layouts on social media.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!

It Has Been A Scrapperific Week!!

Since I got back into a much loved hobby of scrapbooking in October 2016, I have been going through boxes and boxes of family photos and pulling out the ones which I’d like to document.

There are so many incredible papercrafters on YouTube, many of the ones I watch share a passion for scrapbooking and mixed media so I can lose hours watching their videos.

When Zoe Guest announced that she was going to be doing a Live Scrap Stream on YouTube I was adamant that I would be logging on and scrapping along… Zoe’s live scrap stream happened on Friday 3rd February 2017 and I was organised with scrapbooking supplies, photographs and energy drinks to craft along.

I had a really productive weekend and between Friday evening and Sunday I completed EIGHT twelve by twelve scrapbook layouts, which are here:

I’d love to hear your thoughts on how these layouts have come together – I can’t wait to work on documenting more of our family memories.

*** As Brand Representative for Charlie’s Magpie I was sent the items discussed in this blog post for testing and review. No money exchanged hands for this review or products. This in no way gives a biased opinion and I aim to be 100% honest with all of my online reviews ***

Charlies Magpie

The design team for Charlie’s Magpie recently received a selection of the stunning new planner clips to test, review and share with our followers.

All items which are currently available for purchase are listed on Charlie’s Magpie Etsy store.

I have decided t share two images of the new planner clips, one with the camera on “no flash” setting and the other “flash on” setting so that you can see the gorgeous array of colours in the glitter fabric which has been used to create these beautiful planner clips.

I have been using my new bow planner clips since Christmas and love the quality, texture and durability – my planner is thrown into my bag anytime we go out and Charlies Magpie’s planner clips stand up to the use wonderfully. Not only that they really are a bargain too – I would highly recommend popping over to the Etsy store where there are lots more colours in stock.

I love being able to share these brilliant quality items from Charlie’s Magpie’s with you and would ask you all to pop over to their shop on Etsy to have a browse and support a small UK business.
