Pickle Paper Patch – April Scrapbooking Kit (with layout)

Happy National Scrapbooking Day everyone!!

I’m currently on my way to my first ever crafty crop… nerves have kicked in but I’m also very very excited. I know that there are going to be some lovely ladies there, some I’ve never spoken to and others who I have spoken to online and can’t wait to meet.

Last week I had an amazing delivery from Pickle Paper Patch which really did has exceeded my expectations!!

A couple of weeks ago, I woke to a surprise announcement that I had won a giveaway hosted by Pickle Paper Patch which I had entered. The day of the announcement, their monthly scrapbooking kit was also launched which I had to order as soon as I saw it.

Firstly, here is the photograph which was shared on the giveaway post… it is all beautiful and fantastic quality products too.

You can find Pickle Paper Patch on Facebook, by clicking ‘this link’.

Next I began to open my April monthly scrapbooking kit and all I can say is WOW WOW WOW!!! Jane has excelled herself… the packaging is stunning, the products are fantastic and beautiful and the free gift included with early kit purchases is so thoughtful.

Everything within the parcel I received is superb and I can see this being a regular scrapbook kit in my collection. I am so so happy.

As soon as I saw this kit and had it in my hands I knew that it would be perfect for scrapbooking a photograph of my late Mum which was taken in her youth, the soft colours, the feathers, the rose gold butterfly and the flowers were just spot-on. Particularly the butterfly as my Mum’s favourite jewellery was rose gold.

I wanted to keep this layout relatively simple to allow the products to speak for themselves, everything within this layout was from my April kit and I hope you all like what I’ve done with it.

I would highly recommend checking out Pickle Paper Patch’s website and see for yourself how reasonably priced and wonderful quality their products are!!

You can find the Pickle Paper Patch monthly kits here on their website:

Have a wonderful day everyone and I hope you all manage to fit in some crafty time!!

12×12 Scrapbook Layout – Who’s Alex?

Recently I had a lovely weekend with my partner, my Dad and my partner’s Mum… we went to Newcastle Upon Tyne for a lovely event – the 2017 Hugs For Noah Gala Dinner which was held at St James’ Park.

We left home to drive north on Saturday morning and decided to stop at Tibshelf Services on the M1 motorway for the statutory toilet break. On our way back to the car I noticed someone at the side of the car so turned to my partner and said “That’s Alex Brooker”, he was adamant that it wasn’t but said that if I was right he would ask for a photograph with him.

And guess who was indeed correct? Yep, it was Alex Brooker (best known for Channel 4’s show ‘The Last Leg‘) along with his wife and baby daughter. We had a lovely chat with Alex, he’s such a lovely and genuine guy, he seemed really happy to talk to us and so of course I asked if I could take a photo of him with Dan – he was so friendly and it really made Dan’s day!!

As soon as I saw the photographs on my phone, I knew that I needed to scrapbook this moment!!

I decided to keep this layout relatively simple while using papers from the 6×6 paper pad and ephemera in the Shimelle Starshine line, some coloured cardstock from my stash and a library pocket card for my journalling.

I was very impressed with how effective the papers from this range work together so well to create such an impact on a layout that I didn’t need to add many embellishments so means I will be able to ‘stretch the collection’ to make my stash last longer.

I am really pleased with how this layout came together and I hope that you like it too.

Happy Scrapbooking everyone!!

Scrapping Special Memories

Since I restarted my scrapbooking journey I have been going through almost forty years of family memories, including my Mum and Dad’s wedding and deciding which events to create a scrapbook layout for.

There are so many special memories and special people in the photographs from my Mum and Dad’s wedding that I have decided to create multiple layouts for this, however I really struggled to find a scrapbooking kit which had suitable colours – remember this was a June 1979 wedding so the colours are not necessarily on trend with what a lot of people are using today.

It took me a couple of months to gather various scrapbookpapers, embellishments, thickers, etc to create my own kit but I’m really happy with how it turned out and I hope you like the layouts too.

The first layout is “Father Of The Bride” showing my Mum and Grandpa entering the church:

The second layout is “Just Married” with Mum and Dad walking down the aisle to leave the church after their wedding ceremony, on this layout I used a faux stitching technique around the edge of the page for the first time:

My third layout is “Special Moments” which again shows Mum and Dad leaving the church:

The fourth layout in this album is “Mr & Mrs” which shows Mum and Dad just after they have got out of their wedding car:

The last update which I have done for this album so far is a photograph of Mum and Dad’s first dance which I have titled “Dance With Me”:

I really like how these layouts have come together and have really enjoyed working on these special memories from Mum and Dad’s wedding, which was the year before I was born.

I would love to hear your feedback on these layouts.

Shine Together – 12x12inch Scrapbook Layout

As soon as I saw the Starshine scrapbooking range from Shimelle I knew that I needed to have it as I fell in love with the colours and paper patterns as they are just so stunning.

I decided to be well behaved and stay within my crafty budget and only ordered the 6×6 paper pad, 6×12 accent and phrase stickers, chipboard stickers and the ephemera pack… I was particularly excited to use the constellation paper design but I didn’t want it to be covered up.

This week I watched a YouTube video by Zoe Guest, titled “Stretch That Collection #3” which focuses on using the supplies that you have and using them to maximum advantage – this video was working with 6×6 inch papers. I absolutely loved this layout and decided to scraplift this scrapbook page design (thank you Zoe!!

I went through the 6×6 paper pad and chose four of my favourite paper designs, trimmed them down to 5.75inch square and cut in half diagonally, before arranging on a sheet of 12x12inch white cardstock and adhering using double sided tape.

I decided to use two photos of my partner and myself relaxing, watching television on this layout and the title “Shine Together”… I also used paper from this collection to mat and layer my photographs.

After adding ephemera pieces, chipboard stickers and elements from the phrase and accent sticker pack, I decided to incorporate the ‘shine’ ephemera piece in my title and added the word together using gold glitter Thickers.

Finally I completed my layout using enamel dots and wood veneer hearts.

Here is my completed scrapbook layout and I would love to hear your thoughts on how this page has come together, I would also like to thank Zoe for sharing this gorgeous layout idea.

Don’t forget that in the UK there is a brand new scrapbooking group which launched on 1st March 2017, so why not pop over to the UK Scrap Addicts website and join in this wonderful new community, don’t forget to use the hashtag #UKScrapAddicts when you share your layouts on social media.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!

Playing Is So Much Fun – Original post 14.07.2016

It’s that time of year where I have taken two weeks annual leave from our business to kick back and relax, catch up with friends and family and do a few bits for myself.

The last few days I’ve been having lots of messy fun with lots of new craft supplies and techniques… Cosmic Shimmer sprays, Dylusions sprays, Tattered Angels sprays, Tim Holtz sprays and Distress Ink pads.

I have been trying out lots of different paper types, different techniques that I have seen on Youtube, etc and I’ve absolutely loved it!!

I have been spritzing, spraying, inking and splodging, stamping and stencilling and generally making a mess with paper, paint, inks, packaging, etc and it’s been fab!!! 😊

Doing something different from the norm, something that “I” want to do, rather than that someone else wants me to do, has been so refreshing and I feel like I’ve really got my crafty mojo back for when Cards And Candles For All Occasions re-opens on Monday 18th July 2016!!

Here are some examples of what I have been working on over the last few days 🙂

The mess is definitely worth it!!  A lot of these just look quite messy but it shows what my mind looks like pretty well!!  A bit of a jumbled crazy space!!
