12×12 Scrapbook Layout – Prize Tosser

When you see a title ‘Prize Tosser’ I hope you’re not offended as this is not an derogatory or insulting layout, the title is very applicable to the photograph as you will see below.

This layout was created using the Shimelle Starshine range with some papers and alphas from my stash.

The photograph is of my younger cousin who lives in New Zealand. Callum competes in pipeband competitions and is currently a Champion Drum Major and Champion Mace Flourisher… I am so proud of my little cousin, the Prize Tosser ❤

I decided to keep the embellishing of this layout relatively simple to allow the photograph and title speak for themselves and I’m very happy with how it turned out.

Callum always remember to live your dreams with passion, believe in yourself and embrace the journey. So far your pipe-band competitions have given you some amazing travel opportunities and as you continue in the coming years I am sure those opportunities will continue to arise!!!

Thank you for visiting.

12×12 Scrapbooking – Multiple Layouts

Today I am sharing with you a couple of recent scrapbook layouts I have made, I have decided to share these as a combined post as I didn’t realise how many layouts I still had to show on my blog.

These layouts were mainly created using cardstock, papers and embellishments from my stash and I hope you like what you see.

Thank you for visiting my blog, I would love to hear your feedback 🙂

12×12 Layout – Simple Flower Border “Best Friends”

This layout is my very first attempt at using a cut file background in a scrapbook layout – I have used a simple flower border from UK Scrap Addicts which was released for National Scrapbook Day 2017. I chose a photograph of my Mum and I when I was little.

I decided to stay with a relatively simple layout as I wasn’t really sure what to do with the cut file initially but I’m really happy with how this layout turned out.

I decided to use a dark grey pearlised cardstock from my stash to back the cut file, before adhering a few Petaloo flower embellishments in two of the corners, backed my photograph and journalling onto patterned paper, also from my stash and added Nuvo drops to the centre of each flower.

Lastly, I added a few finishing touches and title “Best Friends” from a sheet of silver glitter thickers from Hobbycraft.

I hope you like this layout and thank you for reading.

12X12 Scrapbook Layouts – Simple Stories Domestic Bliss

When I first saw the Domestic Bliss range by Simple Stories I knew that I needed it – there are just so many elements in it which are perfectly suited to Dan and I, for example “I need a nap” and “I can’t adult today”.

So far, I have completed two layouts from this collection, one layout titled “I Love Naps” about myself, and the other titled “Do I Have To Adult Today?” which is about my partner Dan.

I would love to hear your thoughts on these layouts and also hear about what you have made with the Domestic Bliss collection.

Thanks for popping by.

What Is National Scrapbooking Day? When Is It?

National Scrapbooking Day

When? SATURDAY 6th MAY 2017

This Saturday, 6th May 2017 is National Scrapbooking Day, also referred to a International Scrapbooking… the one day of the year where we have a dedicated day on the calendar for our wonderful, memory-filled, photo-fueled hobby!!

For those who are not familiar with the term ‘National Scrapbooking Day’ I have just looked it up on National Day Calendar and here is what they have to say:

Each year on the first Saturday in May, National Scrapbook Day is observed. Also known as National Scrapbooking Day, this day will gather thousands of people all over the country to celebrate with scrapbooking parties and share their talents with others. Scrapbooking dates back to the 15th century.

Scrapbooking is a method for preserving family history, personal momentoes, photographs, newspaper clippings, artwork and other memorabilia.

Journaling is often included to describe the journey or to maintain the story for future generations. Scrapbooking has become a popular hobby and those who enjoy it may develop a strong social network, swapping tools, advice and techniques. They often gather together at each others’ homes and even join each other at conventions or retreats.

Use #NationalScrapbookDay to post on social media.

According to our research, National Scrapbook Day was started in 1994 by the scrapbook company, Creative Memories.

I think it’s great that this day exists and even better that the first ever crafty crop I will be attending falls on National Scrapbooking Day. I have wanted to attend a crop or retreat for a number of years but could never find anything suitable in either distance, price or to suit my health problems.

I’m so thankful to have found out about Crop Central as it fits into all three of my criteria and I have already chatted with some lovely people who will be attending.

I hope you all have a wonderful National Scrapbooking Day whether you are crafting alone, with friends, at a crop or even an online retreat. I will be sharing my #NationalScrapbookingDay makes with you soon, and would love to see what you’ve all been making!!

New Monthly Crop In The Midlands – Crop Central

As someone who has been a lifetime crafter and has scrapbooked on/off since childhood, I have wanted to attend a crafting crop or retreat for a number of years but could never find anything suitable in either distance, price or to suit my health problems, so I was beginning to resign myself to the fact that it would never happen.

That was until one night I couldn’t sleep and I was browsing Facebook. I was looking through the various craft and scrapbooking groups which I am a member of and something caught my eye, I can’t remember what made me really look at it, but there it was “CROP CENTRAL” – a brand new monthly crop taking place in Staffordshire within the Midlands. Really? It must be expensive. Disabled access must be poor. Getting there will be a problem. All of these excuses came into my head as I really didn’t think I would be able to find something to close by and so perfect.

I began to read more about Crop Central and was talking to the very lovely lady (Cal Summers) who is the crop organiser… the crop will be held on a Saturday, so Dan will be able to take me and bring me back as he is workshop based at the weekends. The venue does have disabled access as this was a big factor for Cal when looking for a venue. The cost of a days crafting is only £10.00 per person, or for an additional £15.00 you can also get an amazing scrapbook kit.

A day’s scrapbooking AND a scrapbook kit for just £25.00 with disabled access and only 30 miles from home. Needless to say I instantly booked my place on this crop, told my bestie about it and she is coming too and the sooner it gets the more excited I am getting. It will be so nice to be able to work on scrapbook layouts alongside fellow scrapbookers and crafters while socialising with like-minded people 😀

If you would like to know more about the Crop Central events and the future dates it will be held then please visit their website at http://www.calsummers.com/crop-central.html

Have a wonderful crafty weekend everyone whatever you’re up to and if you’re not scrapping your memories then I hope you’ll have the chance to create new memories with your loved ones.

Scrapping Special Memories

Since I restarted my scrapbooking journey I have been going through almost forty years of family memories, including my Mum and Dad’s wedding and deciding which events to create a scrapbook layout for.

There are so many special memories and special people in the photographs from my Mum and Dad’s wedding that I have decided to create multiple layouts for this, however I really struggled to find a scrapbooking kit which had suitable colours – remember this was a June 1979 wedding so the colours are not necessarily on trend with what a lot of people are using today.

It took me a couple of months to gather various scrapbookpapers, embellishments, thickers, etc to create my own kit but I’m really happy with how it turned out and I hope you like the layouts too.

The first layout is “Father Of The Bride” showing my Mum and Grandpa entering the church:

The second layout is “Just Married” with Mum and Dad walking down the aisle to leave the church after their wedding ceremony, on this layout I used a faux stitching technique around the edge of the page for the first time:

My third layout is “Special Moments” which again shows Mum and Dad leaving the church:

The fourth layout in this album is “Mr & Mrs” which shows Mum and Dad just after they have got out of their wedding car:

The last update which I have done for this album so far is a photograph of Mum and Dad’s first dance which I have titled “Dance With Me”:

I really like how these layouts have come together and have really enjoyed working on these special memories from Mum and Dad’s wedding, which was the year before I was born.

I would love to hear your feedback on these layouts.
